Floyd Mayweather Jr’s jail starting date has been pushed back to June 1st. Mayweather was originally supposed to serve a 90 day term starting January 6th. Due to this, Floyd now can fight in May, on Cinco De Mayo of course.
An opponent has not been named but Saul Alvarez is a potential one. Alvarez has an interest in fighting Mayweather and has been verbal about it. For Floyd, this is a win win situation. Although a great up and coming boxer, Alvarez does not pose much a threat to Floyd Jr.
If Floyd beats Canelo, he remains undefeated and will feel better about serving 3 months. The boxing community would love to see Mayweather take on Manny Pacquiao on May 5th. The two more than likely will not fight this May.
