dallas vs san antonio

Both teams are winners after this game. Competition at it’s best. Just when you think the Spurs are done, they come and take the lead in the fourth! Jason Terry was killing tonight. He had a season high of 34 points.

The Spurs bench took things over while the starters watched on. Danny Green was the guy that gave the Spurs the false win. Man was this unreal. Just when you thought the game was over! The officials reviewed it and the replay showed the ball was on his fingertips. In the end it didn’t matter because the victory goes to Dallas 101-100.

ufc on fox 2

A UFC event that is free? I’m in. This is the second time the UFC was free on FOX. I must say, they did not disappoint. I did not watch the preliminary card but just the 3 main card fights. The three were Demian Maia vs Chris Weidman, Chael Sonnen vs Michael Bisping and Rashad Evans vs Phil Davis.

Demian Maia vs Chris Weidman was a mediocre bout. I was aiming for Demian Maia to win but Weidman got the unanimous decision. Maia didn’t look himself in there and Weidman capitalized. Demian Maia will bounce back, no big deal.

Chael Sonnen vs Michael Bisping was an entertaining fight. I picked Sonnen to win. Michael Bisping was tougher than a lot of people thought. He hung in there with Chael and even staggered him. Some had the first two rounds for Bisping, including Joe Rogan. Sonnen’s takedowns were the deciding point. Hopefully fans get to see a rematch with Anderson Silva soon!

Rashad Evans vs Phil Davis was not a bad fight. Evans of course was the favorite. Phil Davis did decent against a skilled fighter like Rashad. Davis in fact is a big guy. He looked a weight class higher than Rashad. Winning this fight should secure a title fight with Jon Jones at UFC 145!

tribute to TNA & double j

Double J being none other than Jeff Jarrett. Love him or hate him he has been a force in the wrestling business for his whole career. With the fall of Extreme Champion Wrestling and WWE purchasing WCW, Jarrett started Total Nonstop Action Wrestling in 2002. TNA operated under the NWA governing until about 2004.

From the beginning, I liked the fact that TNA was different from the rest. Different in that the promotion held weekly pay per views instead of monthly ones that were the norm. TNA did not establish a television deal until 2004. Later they gained a regular deal with Spike TV as TNA Impact began. Up until that point, their primary driving force was the weekly pay per views via the internet.

Who could forget the hexagon ring? A six sided ring? Man that was something else. Today, they have went back to the normal four sided ring. The X Division has some of the most talented wrestlers I have ever seen. These guys are true athletes. TNA featured wrestlers that were not considered main event guys in WWF or WCW. Jeff Jarrett and company treated everyone equally from the start.

ecw heavyweight replica belt

I purchased this ECW replica belt about 4 months ago. I’ve always wanted a real wrestling belt similar to what the actual wrestlers have. Since ECW was my favorite organization, why not the ECW Heavyweight Championship belt? Lucky for me, it was on sale for $249.99. The regular price was $299.99. Sure it was still expensive but I am the nostalgic type.. The title came with a nice protective carrying sleeve as well. Overall, I do not have any complaints. Everything on it is perfect actually. I am proudly displaying this belt on the shelf!

good news for mayweather

Floyd Mayweather Jr’s jail starting date has been pushed back to June 1st. Mayweather was originally supposed to serve a 90 day term starting January 6th. Due to this, Floyd now can fight in May, on Cinco De Mayo of course.

An opponent has not been named but Saul Alvarez is a potential one. Alvarez has an interest in fighting Mayweather and has been verbal about it. For Floyd, this is a win win situation. Although a great up and coming boxer, Alvarez does not pose much a threat to Floyd Jr.

If Floyd beats Canelo, he remains undefeated and will feel better about serving 3 months. The boxing community would love to see Mayweather take on Manny Pacquiao on May 5th. The two more than likely will not fight this May.

Here is a video to lighten the mood.

the humble one- D. Rose

Derrick Rose is something else. Something else in that he stands out from the crowd. At age 22 he become the youngest player to capture the NBA Rookie of the Year award. In his second season he was selected to the Eastern Conference All Star team as a reserve. Rose was the second Bulls player to play in an All Star game next to Michael Jordan.

The following year, 2011, Rose was elected as the Eastern Conference All Stars starting point guard. As if all this wasn’t enough, Rose become the leagues youngest Most Valuable Player in history. Again, sharing the spotlight with Michael Jordan. The only two in Chicago Bulls history to win the award.

The 2012 season just started and so far so good. The Bulls are 3-1 and had a very impressive 1 point victory over the Lakers on Christmas Day! Putting all his success aside, Derrick Rose is such a humble guy. He turned 23 in October and the sky is the limit.

boxing fights for 2012

2012 is nearly here and the following are some match ups I would love to see.

Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Manny Pacquiao- A very obvious choice. This is the fight everyone wants to see but probably will not happen soon.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr vs Saul Alvarez- Both have come off victories and are rising stars. This fight only makes sense!

Andre Ward vs Sergio Martinez- Would be a great test for each guy. Ward has come off the win of the Super Six Tournament and Martinez is the Ring Middleweight Champion.

Timothy Bradley vs Amir Khan- Khan lost a split decision to Lamont Peterson. Bradley defeated Joel Casamayor and is still undefeated. However, I believe Amir Khan will have a rematch against Lamont Peterson first.

Dream Fight in 2012

Oscar De La Hoya vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr- Oscar defeated Julio’s father twice. Chavez Jr has expressed his interest in avenging his father’s losses. Oscar has retired from boxing since his loss to Pacquiao. I believe this fight would draw a huge crowd!
